Financial Planner | Principal

Peter W. Johnson, Jr., PFP, is founder of PWJohnson Wealth Management, a Registered Investment Advisory firm based in Sunnyvale, California. His independent firm provides investment and financial planning services to clients who seek to maximize their long-term financial health. The firm's compensation is derived solely from fees; that is, we receive no commissions on any investment or other products.

As an outgrowth of his commitments to education and community, Peter founded The Financial Literacy Project, which makes financial education and coaching available at little or not cost to consumers through local, independent bookstores and libraries. Peter was also co-producer of one of the earliest podcasts, called Pro Money Talk, which consisted of interviews with the top names in personal finance, and generated millions of downloads in over 100 countries.

Peter has operated his current practice for over 20 years and manages in excess of $45 million. Prior to establishing the advisory practice, Peter spent ten years in the investment industry working as an account executive at various brokerage firms and with the Benham (now American Century) group of mutual funds.

Peter received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration/Finance from the University of Santa Clara in 1979, graduating first in his class. In 1986, he earned the Personal Financial Planner designation from the University of California.

His peers have recognized Peter as a leader in the field of Financial Planning. Peter previously served on the Ethics Board of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), a national trade group with over 29,000 members. As past President of the Silicon Valley Chapter of the FPA, Peter worked diligently to educate others in the industry on how to efficiently and effectively manage clients, wealth, and build successful planning businesses. Peter has also been recognized through the media. His expertise in both financial planning and technology has led him to prominence as a financial industry writer and speaker. Peter has been a regular contributor to industry magazines such as the Journal of Financial Planning, Financial Advisory Practice and The Journal of Practical Estate Planning, has been quoted in leading consumer publications such as the Silicon Valley Business Journal and Black Enterprise, and has spoken at national, regional and local financial industry conferences and events all over the United States.

AND THERE'S MORE...

The next step in "Shop Local" is building local loyalty.

In the spirit of encouraging our community to shop at local businesses, Hometown Peninsula provides support and resources to neighborhood merchants.  A new resource that we're excited about is

Gemz is a free loyalty program that gives shoppers points (Gemz) for shopping at neighborhood businesses. Shoppers collect 1% in points on any transaction and redeem them using their mobile phone for amazing offers at their favorite local stores.

Gemz is designed to shift shopping from chain stores and online to put money back into our local community businesses. There are no coupons to clip or stamps to collect - consumers are rewarded for shopping locally and merchants have a new way of tracking loyalty.

The evening kicks off with a brief presentation from Gemz to introduce local businesses to the Gemz program and offer you a special opportunity to participate as a founding merchant which waives your first year's fee and gets you 200,000 Starter Gemz free. This special offer is available to current HTP members through July 31st.

For more information about Gemz contact James Hale at 650 533.3478 or james@localgemz.com. You can meet James tomorrow at the Menlo Park Downtown Block Party. Their table will be between Crane and Evelyn.

If you can’t make the meeting on July 11 but are interested in joining Hometown Peninsula or the Gemz program, James will be happy to meet with you at your business to discuss the program.

All that in 90 minutes!
